    The washer idea is to shim the clutch springs with a washer

      the wrong kind of oil can cause slippage can't it? oil change and clean the clutch with kerosene maybe...

            derp, i assumed not working meant slipping. gotta read the fine print i guess.

                if you can't adjust anymore, and the previously mentioned worm gear is correctly positioned, and the clutch and springs are within specs maybe the cable is stretched and/or broken somewhere.

                  all he has to do is add free play whether on the lever or on the engine case.
                  some cables even has adjustment in the middle of the cable.
                  this is not NASA type of work...hehehe

                    so if more free play is what's needed the original poster should turn one or both of the adjustment screws IN effectively making the cable longer so the lever has to be squeezed farther to make the clutch disengage. if that can't be done maybe he should loosen the engine clutch lever, lift it off and turn it in one notch.

                        this is not my first bike have had 2 kz650s 2 kz1000's kz 1300 and a z1r....all in the 70,s....just never had a clutch do this before....
