thinking of boring it to 1085 with larger cam shafts with longer lift
    and a forged crankshaft
i wanna put out about 150 hp or so

I think you should do some reserch on a GS1000 crank, its a pressed up multi part assembly.
My bikes 79 GS1000 1085 checked and approved by stator the GSR mascot :eagerness: and 77 GS750 with 850 top end, GS850g, and my eldest sons 78 GS550, youngest sons GS125. Project bike 79 GS1000N

There are only 3 places I will send a roller bearing crank for work. Gardner Racing in Maine, Pearson Racing in Ohio, & Accurate Crankshaft in Florida. Ray.

Wow, Ray, kinda sucks that you don't have anybody local.

I am fortunate enough to have Pearson almost literally in my back yard. (About 20 straight-line miles)
He did a bit of work for me, and we almost did an upgrade on Mrs. Steve's bike.
He had all the parts, but decided that the liners would be a little too thin, even for mild street use, so we stuck with "Plan A".

I have seen enough of his operation to feel VERY confident using his services again, and even recommending them to others.

purchase and install an 1150 engine and be done.
used parts are cheap and you have a much better platform.

            new idea
i want to do a full rebuild on this bike not just simply swap it
is it possible to attach 1100 heads to a 1000ec
i want to give this bike the most possible power
also i found some over sized pistons for about 600 on ebay is this worth it or no?

              1100 what? G? E?

              G - yes
              E - no

              Piston - $600
              Boring -$2-300
              Gaskets - $150
              Crank service - $300+
              Clutch basket - $200+
              Undercut trans -$400
              Ported head - $300+
              Carbs - $300-1,000
              Oil cooler - $100

This was just hammered out in another thread - expect to spend $2-3K to build an 8V motor over 120 HP

150 HP can be achieved, but expect a short life

It's cheaper to swap in a newer motor, or simply buy a modern bike that already has more HP (any 600 SS)
