    Stuck bolts

I'm trying to remove some of the covers from my '81 GS750. The screws from the chain cover are rusted in place. Any ideas on how to get them out without drilling the heads?

If you don't have an impactdriver you could take a screwdriver of the right size ( JIS remember) and hit the screwdriver with a hammer to shock the corrosion loose. I've even held the shank of a screwdriver with a visegrips applying a slight turning force whilst hitting the screwdriver.
Second thoughts, if you don't have an impactdriver get one

Impact driver is mandatory to work on old Japanese bikes.

Drill the heads... you weren't planning on re-installing that old junk, were you?

Use a left-handed drill bit. Harbor Freight, believe it or not, sells a very nice set of left-handed drill bits. Their regular drill bits are all crap, but for some reason the lefties are great.

Also, HF's impact driver is junk. You'll have to get a good quality one from Sears or maybe a GOOD auto parts store like Napa.

The HF driver itself is OK, but the tips shatter. Get those at Sears. But really the Sears one doesn't cost much more and it is a lot better. I think they are something like $19.
            This one:

When you put the new screws in use anti-seize so they don't rust again.
