    Shift linkage help

I accidentally broke my shift linkage dang it! Why is it when I break something, it's always obsolete?

Anyway, my bike is an 82 550M baby Kat which uses a special, longer rod than the other 550s. It's aprox 5 3/4 or 145mm long. Anybody now if there is another model that might be close that I can use instead? Or maybe another option? Note that I do not have a welder and it broke right at the junction of the rod and the threads.

    Thanks.

If it is part #33 that you need, the cross-reference shows that it is unique to the '82 550M.

How hard can it be to make and thread a new rod?

Yes, one end is left hand thread. Have a brand new one, P/N 25525-47020

Think Suzuki superceeded the part for this one. http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detai...525-47000.html

Total length is 70mm with M6 threads.

PM me if this thing will work and you want it.

Thanks For the offer Nessism but at more than half shorter than mine (145mm) I doubt it will work. I was looking at photos and it looks like an 86 1150e might be close. Anyone have an 1150 from that year and can measure it for me?

            Thanks again.

Ahh, I see. 550M has rear set pegs then. Good luck with your search. You could cut and weld an extension in if you get stuck.

About 8-1/2 cm between the non threaded part. 85 1150 ( same as 86 ). If you want end to end let me know. Ill take it apart tomorrow and measure.

Cool. Thanks Dorkburger! It looks like the 1150 is about 4.5" long end to end I suspect. That's about 1.25" shorter than mine but might be close enough. I will mock it up on Thursday when I get back from out of town.

And yeah, tkent, I guess I could always make a new one if it comes down to it. Thanks for the link!

I was just checking mine.. If the link is shorter it will lower the height of the shifter...Anyways, here's the rod removed.

Great! Thanks Glen. About 1.25 inches shorter. I will mock it up this weekend and see if that will work.
