    Engine cover clarification

Hey all. I sold a stator cover to a forum member that needed one for his 82' 1100GL. I sent him one from a GS1000 but it does not fit. Here's his reply.

"when I went to install it today I discovered that it is just slightly smaller then I need. The bolts line up just like the old one. What doesn't fit is the diameter of the protrusion that goes around the magnet"

Can someone clarify for me the stator cover that will fit, thought for sure the 1000 would.

    This should help you out:

    '83 GS650G
'83 GS550es (didn't like the colours in the 80's, but they've grown on me)

btw, I know I had a heckuva time putting my replacement stator cover back on the bike. It has to line up exactly. I bet that is all that is happening

Ya that's what I was worried about. I sent him one from an older 1000 I guess. My bad

Do you know the year/model of the one you sent down? The Partzilla cross reference does show the 80-81 1000E/G/S covers all fit the '82 1100GL

It would have been from a 78' 1000. It doesn't look like I have one that will fit.

I'll look into that. Thanks. It's a handy little tool.

EDIT- it appears there is no way to share the data in an open forum, but the data is fully public for other members of Fuelly. I can, however share the data on Facebook, but I choose not to.
