GS550T clutch grabbing when warm
1981 GS550T When I release the clutch it seems like it does not engage when I feather it but when I release it fast it engages . Replaced the spring months ago as the original one was broke. Could it be the incorrect spring or adjustment? Cable is new and lubed . Clutch lever has a bit of side slop. Any ideas?Last edited by Guest; 11-25-2013, 10:54 PM.Tags: None

When you say a bit of slop, how much? I know I had a heck of a time adjusting mine correctly a week or so ago...took a bit to do so. I would go back through the adjustment process againCowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

Sideways slop at the lever is meaningless.
I suggest turning in the cable adjusters, then adjusting freeplay at the lever using the helix on the engine cover. Lube the helix too (zerk fitting). Not sure that will fix the problem, but it's a good place to start.Ed

Loosen lock nut.
Adjust slotted nub with a screwdriver while checking freeplay at the lever. Adjust to remove the cable slack while leaving a little lever freeplay. When done tighten the nut on the adjuster.Ed
