What are these?

What are these?
These are in my Versah top end rebuild kit from Z1 for my 80' 1000G. It doesn't mention them on the parts list in the package and for the life of me I can't figure out where they go. Also one side is different from the other so there another question of which way is up?

It's just 'slightly' too big to fit in the copper hole. If I put it in there the head would not bolt down flat I don't think. It's a fairly hard material that's it's made out of and as you can see there's a rubber o-ring molded into it on both sides. Looks important but alas no idea what it's for. The Versah gasket kit contents list does not even show that it's in the gasket kit?? I phoned Z1 and they're not sure either. Apparently they looked in another kit there and couldn't see any in the kit they have?? very frustrating as I just want to bolt things together.Rob

My mistake, there are only 8 of them. No valve stem seals are a different shape entirely. Very strange.Rob

You had it Dale, apparently they go inside the copper washers in the head gasket. GSR member 49er had a quick write up on them
"Fit the gasket onto the cylinders with the pressed face on top (facing the head ). Place the rubber coated washers central to the gasket holes and the studs. Fit the cam chain elongated ring in the tunnel groove.
Now carefully lower the head onto the gasket, and torque it up in the correct sequence. If you have managed to source a genuine Vesrah gasket, you should end up with a good sealing top end."
I 'guess'... once you torque the head down everything will flatten out. Thanks for the help as usual guys.Rob

Yep, they go with the head gasket, around the headbolts...they flatten out.
If you order original Vintage gaskets on ebay, Always make sure they seller has All -8 of these crush-rings! You wouldn't believe how many sellers ship them with missing Rings.

I stand corrected. I have seen valve stem seals that were like these. After looking at them, I see the inside diameter was too large to fit over a valve stem.
I'm glad you were able to figure out where they go.
