    GS1000 cyl. head studs

I recently had trouble with the head holddown nuts coming loose after a top end freshening. I had only gone a few hundred miles and the head gasket started leaking oil and then lost compression. I was planning on re-torquing the head at 1000 miles. Do the studs need replacing every time as with many automotive engines?

are you using the correct head nuts and washers? what did you Torque them up to, and did you follow the correct procedure?

Re-torque after a few heat cycles and not 1k miles.

I used the stock nuts and washers and went to 30 lbs. in the proper sequence as per the manual.
