    Knocking sounds at idle

I hear some knocking sounds coming somewhere from the engine. I don't know if this caused the knocking, but recently my bike is having trouble going into first gear without grinding. So now i always start my bike in first. Any help would be appreciated... thanks in advance!

See if the big nut that holds the clutch on the shaft has worked itself loose.

Is that on the right side of the bike or the left side?

The clutch is on the right side. This forum is a wealth of information but you have to do a little homework on your own. A shop manual is a must; one for your bike may be available as a download here. Second, third and fourth is read, read and read. Don't just ask questions but attempt to research for old posts on your problem. A knock could be a cam chain, valves, clutch rattle, or something else. The more you know, the more people on this forum can help you.
