Guy once told me that even though you set the rings like the manual shows, they still jiggle around and change positioning of the gaps when the engine is running. Yes or no? Just was thinking about this for some reason.

yes they will walk around , have you ever taking to old motor a part and the ring where in the same place ? -

That's why 2 stroke pistons have pins, to stop the rings from rotating and catching the ports.1978 GS1085.
