    Myth or fact???

    Guy once told me that even though you set the rings like the manual shows, they still jiggle around and change positioning of the gaps when the engine is running. Yes or no? Just was thinking about this for some reason.

    I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

    yes they will walk around , have you ever taking to old motor a part and the ring where in the same place ?

      Never gave it any thought or looked!!! Just was something I was told and never gave it much thought. The break in oil thread brought back the topic for me.

        That's why 2 stroke pistons have pins, to stop the rings from rotating and catching the ports.
        1978 GS1085.

        Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

          Consider the alternative proposition - Rings cannot walk. No residual asymmetries?
