    Best bike I owned for that was an R80 with R100 conversion, still running the original gearing. That thing was a stump-puller, as proved one day when the clutch cable broke and I had to get home in heavy traffic. Several unavoidable stops were dealt with no problem, then an idiot in a car in front of me was dithering around on a hill and I had to do the electric start in gear trick on a 20% slope.
    It didn't bother it at all.

          From my memory just from reading around here, 82 and prior would be the bad ones and Suzuki made it stronger for 83 on. But I have an 1100 so that was what I focused my reading on. Not sure about the 650.
