I will be removing the oil pan to see if there are visible chunks of metal. If my valve jam'd with a tiny chip of metal.....

You either have a bad crank bearing or you have a damaged cam chain guide.

Are those pieces steel or iron? How large is that orange cup?

It a peanut butter jar and the bits are iron.

How long of a job is it to replace those bearings?
              Do I need special tools?
I`ll be dismantling the engine tomorrow.

this has to be done by a press pin crank specialist....not good news.
would be quicker and cheaper to buy a used crank.

wait till the engines a part and let us know what you find.

Bummer about the destruction, but at least you are getting closer to finding the root cause of the issues.

There is a GSR member from Quebec that breaks bikes. Can't remember his name off the top of my head but I've bought stuff from him before and he seems like a nice guy. Hopefully he has some spares (and someone can provide his name).

I`m down to my last bolt but it does not want to budge. IT`s the one inside the oil pan A #8 bolt. It twists, like a torsion bar and twists back.
It`s my last bolt and, FFS I dont want to break it..

                      What should I do?

I need to get the sucker opened so I can find out what bearing is busted.

Found the bad bearing. It`s the 2nd one on the crack shaft.
Since I do not have the presses to fix it, and the lack of knowledge, Guess I need to buy an other one.

I`ll gut the guy a shout.

In the mean time I`ll start another thread to ask if there are alternatives to the crack shaft, Welded, APE rebuild etc.
This bike is becoming my baby and I do not mind putting a little extra $$$ to get quality.

What would cause a bearing to disintegrate like that?
I thought these GS`s where built like tanks.

Sorry to read about your troubles but sure respect the effort you're putting into your bike. It'll be a whole lot of satisfaction when you get her back together.

Effort, hell yes. I'v never dismantled an engine before but like you said the ROI will be satisfaction. Vroom Vroom!
