low RPM chatter
82 1100G , has a low rpm chatter , pulled the starter clutch ,the 3 bolts where tight, but springs were sad so I replaced them , and checked the clutch nut and tighten it up , but it still has a low rpm chatter or vibration , go away once you raise the rpms some , any one have any thoughts what to check now ????Tags: None

Even though you have tightened the clutch nut, did you inspect the back side of the basket? If the springs are loose or broken, there will be movement between the two parts of the basket. Tightening the nut will not 'fix' that.

The rattle is there, due to pulses in the power train. The faster the engine runs, the less time it has to pulse, so it runs smoother, and you don't hear the rattle.
