Top end assembly complete, engine rotates half a turn only
I just reassembled the top end. Everything is clean and has new gaskets. Followed manual precisely. Now when I hand crank or starter crank the engine it only turns about half a rotation then stops. I can reverse the rotation manually but only about 180 degrees. This is my first top end rebuild and I don't know where I went wrong. Any suggestions?Tags: None

Pistons hitting open valves? Valve timing is off. You put the cam chain on with the cams in the wrong position? You might be able to see in the spark plug holes and take the valve cover off to see if the valves are open as the piston reaches the top.
One possibility.

If the cam timing is off and you hit the starter button you might have bent valves.
Double check the cam timing and keep your fingers crossed.Ed
To measure is to know.
