Gsx1100 engine in a gs1000C possible?
I have an engine issue with my recently purchased. The bike in question is a 78 Gs1000C and I happen to have a 88 GSX1100 sitting around with no title. So I was thinking would the Gsx engine would fit in my Gs frame with out major frame modifications?. Any one done a swap like this with a Gsx or gsxr? It might be a pipe dream but if anyone knows about this it's you guysTags: None

That's awsome. I notice you put it in a gs1100. I hope the older gs frames will work. Did you make your own front plates? If I can make this work this is what I will be doing as well. That looks like a bad a$$ bike. It would be cool to have a 1100 skunk. Would you mind taking a few pictures of the front mounts and what u did with the oil cooler please.Last edited by Guest; 08-30-2014, 10:39 PM.

I haven't done it, but I'm pretty sure the side mounts are a bit different also
I've seen pictures of bikes with this swap, so the mods to get it to fit shouldn't be too hard

As far as I know the engine turns but does not turn all the way around so I will have to tear it apart anyway. Unfortunately the bike sat outside for a number of years but the price was right. A 78 skunk cost me $50 and all the parts are there but it's going to need a bunch of work and the bike is dissassembled. So it got me thinking of alternative engines I could put in it to get it back on the road.Last edited by Guest; 08-31-2014, 12:12 AM.

I just read through your build thread. What a job you did, very nice. My Gsx has a oil cooler on it so would prob just use that one. It looks like a pretty simple front mount design. Thanks for pictures.
