    Popping/backfire

Just noticed my gs750 with V&H pipe just started having a little poppin from exhaust when I let off to shift???

Any idea's what would have brought this on??? Bad Gas?? low voltage?? Leak from pipe at the head??

Motor getting ready to blow up??

Probably won't get to look at it until weekend any thoughts??? on what to look for?

Bad seal where the header and pipe slip together. Sucking air in and its combusting unburnt exhaust gases. One fault of the slide together design...gotta get them tightly seated.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Not trying to hijack, My 78 550 has a small crackle/pop when it's not fully warm but the choke is off. and very occasionally when its hot and getting ready to shut it down. I'm pretty sure there is a small leak in the stock exhaust equalizer(?) pipe (crossover before the mufflers).

Take an exhaust pipe expander, stick it into the header pipe where the mega phone connects. Then slowly over a few days expand the pipe where the mega phone is tight slipping on, That is how I fixed mine. You can also take some exhaust wrap and wrap it a few times around the seam.
