    Gs1100 vin question

I tried to find an answer but got conflicting answers of either a 82 or a 83.

i have a vin of JS1GU73A9D2101509, what year is this? It is a GS1100e.

    thanks,
    Daryl
1978 Gs1085 compliments of Popy Yosh, Bandit 1200 wheels and front end, VM33 Smoothbores, Yosh exhaust, braced frame, ported polished head
1983 Gs1100ESD, rebuild finished! Body paintwork happening winter 2017:D

I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.

does the rear peg brackets bolt to the frame(83) or have the swing arm pivot bolt going through them(82).
the (83) has extra frame lugs for the ES fairing even if it is an E model.

The brackets bolt to the frame! So there I have it, it is an 83.

So this is the more desirable model with larger and welded crankshaft from the factory?

      thanks

The "D" in the VIN makes it an 83. This can be confirmed by checking the things Terry mentioned above also.

According to THIS PAGE at Z1 Enterprises, you have an '82.

I thought that "D" would appear at the end of the serial number, not the middle of it.

I wondered why they show the ESD as an 82. Guess it's a typo.
