Use a 1/4" drive torque wrench for smaller fasteners. The Harbor Freight version has proven to be just as accurate as the expensive ones.
Do NOT confuse inch-pounds with foot-pounds. And when a spec mentions the size of the fastener, remember that it's talking about the size of the threads, not the size of the wrench or head of the fastener.
No matter how expensive your torque wrench was, you must continue to use your brain. Don't just set it and start yanking blindly -- this has caused much preventable anguish. Stop and think whether the setting and spec make sense (some of the factory manual specs are incorrect), and make sure the amount of force feels correct. With a clicker torque wrench, go slowly or you could miss the "click".Last edited by bwringer; 10-29-2014, 01:02 PM.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

I use a ole beam type that is in inch pounds. I did have one or more like tried 4 of those HF 1/4 torque wrenches, not one worked right, its a bigger piece of junk then their spray guns.sigpicMrBill Been a GSR member on and off since April 2002

Hi all,
That video is a joke, right? It is totally"screwed" up.
We are having a garage built, no excuse then not to tear my 1150 down to fix the cyl base gasket leak, I will be sure to have many questions then.
Regards
