    oil leak

Well, on the way home yesterday, i thought i smelled something "off"....found a small puddle (less than a teaspoon) of oil on the garage floor this morning. Looks like the leak is from the front area of the head gasket, I have had valve cover leaks before, but i suspect the bolt orings under the valve cover are leaking this time. Easy enough, just deciding whether to deal with it now or wait till spring, riding season (for me, anyway) is basically done up here anyway. More work for me.

Check the tach. cable seals while you are at it too.

You mean the rings around the studs just below the nut? I have the same probem but no answer yet unfortunately. I will replace the rings first on mine before I remove the cylinderhead .

You have plugged it with the 1000S plug? All three of my '83 1100E engines have a tach. cable on the cam cover.
