Be sure to replace sprockets at the same time as the chain.

Dont buy any old cheap and cheerful chain and sprocket set off of the net, your local motorcycle garage will be able to advise you about what suits your needs best, and chances are they'll have it in stock, or available very quickly; 'o'or 'x' ring chains are the way to go if you knock up some serious mileage, as the oil is kept in and around the chain rollers, though you still need to oil the chain to lube the 'o'rings.
No decent supplier or garage would sell you just a chain, chains and sprockets come in 'kits' and the whole set up is replaced as a set, it is a realatively straight forward process, When i was using my harley xlh 1100 sporster to commute 60 miles a day, she was fitted with a 'o' ring chain AND a 'scottoiler' and i adjusted the drive chain 3 times in 13000 miles,
