GS1000 clutch bascket springs

Hi all,
Can anybody tell me on a GS1000 (2V) clutch bascket springs in the back of the bascket should move/turn by hand?

The problem with the above mentioned repair is that you are still using inferior parts. The stock backing plate is thin. The stock springs are already weakened. The aftermarket heavy duty kits come with new rivets, spacers, heavy springs & a thicker backing plate. This enables you to have a MUCH superior part over stock. I build them & can build one for you also. If you are across the pond, Roger Upperton can build you one.

Cheers for the replys, I have some one who can rebuld the clutch over here, I was just not shoure if the springs should have any movment in them, I'm thinking not as they will not be doing the job if they had just thort I'd check with you lot first

If my memory is correct isn't a GS1000 hub a finger type hub, not solid like a GS1100? That is a obvious weak point. I found out about 35 years ago......the hard way.

If its right with good springs....No those will be tight.

pre 80 1000 is a finger type basket.
all baskets have a little bit of loose springs(spin freely)...even brand new OEM baskets.
an HD backing plate kit would be nice if it's in your budget.
