    Oil advice wanted

    1982 GS750E

Should I go with the Rotella 15w-40 or Synthetic Blend 10w-30 or the Rotella t synthetic 5w-40

An x-30 would be too light for my liking. On balance I'd take the 15W-40 of those three.

Oil advice threads always cause an uproar, but for my money (and quite a few others' here) the 15W-40 is what I use. It is cheap and easy to find where I'm at.

Oh, please put your location in your profile, and bike(s) in your signature. It will help at a later date if you have any other questions, you won't have to keep reposting what bike you are referring to.

Synthetic will allow you to extend the change interval if that's important to you. Otherwise either the 15W-40 or 5W-40 is fine.

Given those choices, I would say "NOT the 10w-30". Why? Because the manual calls for at least a 40-weight oil, not 30.

Of the other two choices, either one will do fine. If you want to go cheap (less-expensive), go with the T5 15w-40. If you don't mind paying a bit more, go with the T6 synthetic 5w-40. Personally, I use T6 in all my bikes.

Changing the filter every other oil change or at 4k miles is okay. I'd open the filter housing during the in between oil changes and drain out the old oil though. When doing this be careful to assure the filter cover O-ring doesn't pop out of the groove.
