    Glad I wear boots

    I hate when this happens:

    Attached Files
1982 GS1100E V&H "SS" exhaust, APE pods, 1150 oil cooler, 140 speedo, 99.3 rear wheel HP, black engine, '83 red

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

...and what caused that to happen?

The city is like one big construction site. A roller coaster.

whoops! hope you didn't break any exhaust bolts in the head :O

might want to replace with a nylon locking nut or use some locktite.

Doesn't look like it. It's loose where the megaphone meets the collector.

I rode home with my right foot holding it up most of the way. Those exhaust gases get hot - wouldn't have worked with flip-flops!

The megaphone swiveled back into place so easy it isn't funny!

it certainly looks odd, but if that's the way it balanced, what else can be done?

Excellent idea. I was once near a dealership when the handle bar choke cable dismounted itself. Zip tie did the trick. That's what's holding the megaphone in place now until I go for a bolt, nut and some washers in a little while.

And zip ties. I'm going to stash some under the seat in the rear compartment. That's about all that will fit there.

Interesting. I don't see any mention of tubes on their web site. Anyone know if Dyna Beads are compatible with tubed tires?

They aren't, as far as I have been able to figure out. Not sure I would want any sloshing around inside a tube.

You are still running tubes in your 1100?

Yup, stock 1982 "snowflake" wheels. Was told they were designed for, and should still use tubes.

I'm very pleased with the Pirelli Sport Demons, though, so the tubes don't bother me.

Interesting. I thought all of the cast wheels in the '80s could go tubeless. I love this forum for new learning.

Some have done that, with no problems. Some advise against it.

My mechanic agreed with this forum's more conservative voices.
