Do you want 2 x2.05 the thinnest you can fit are 2.15.

You will have to machine off the end of valve stem abit to get back in normal range with shims.

No probs - i am gonna risk it then - run for bit and hope that the gap will expand
          and it was 0.002.

I have not time to mess about further.
          either it works or dies.

the gap will not expand, as things wear in the gap always gets smaller

the thinnest they make are 2.15

I think if its just for one valve and you have re fitted head I would grind one shim one down by attaching a valve grinding sucker to a 2,15 shim and putting valve grinding sucker tool in electric drill and take 0ff 0.05 by holding against emery cloth keeping it square .unless some one can suggest better way?

Maybe try machining a bit from inside tappet holder underneath? think I have seen some one do it on here some where.

                i meant get smaller ...
I like the idea of grinding the shim ..... damned good thinking il add that to the list.

I wonder if my friendly machine company could do it ? the one that did the head ?
can they or any human being grind down a disk flat ?

apparently there is a shim vlub on here.
i cant ever post a question on it.
                    all i want is a shim ?

how do you post in shim club on here ? other do i seem to be prevented ?

A machine shop with a surface grinder with magnetic chuck could do it- but the shims need to be demagnetised afterwards - simple stuff.
the shim club is run by member ghostgs1 - send him PM, not sure if he can send your way

thanks for all the advice on here.
I have calmed down and put down the sledge hammer.

I never measured the valves when putting them back in.

I used (possibly stupidly) not the valves from my original head but one of the
                          other i bought.
I dont know where the issue is but everything was done correctly and i see no reason
                          for the shim issue.

I wil try machine shop tomorrow, then if that dont work swap the buckets about (i have many spares) and if needed off with the head
again and compare the valve with other i have now for backup.
if that fails to show up anything valve to machine shop.

thanlks anyway but how bloody annoying. i was going for a spin tomororw to the coast ............

I just wondered as i might have a go at grinding down a shim myself.

how long would it take with a drill onto sandpaper ?

shims are made of hard steel are they not ?
