Copper head washers colour change
New gaskets have 200 miles on. The two exhaust side copper washers are going a golden colour. The four old ones are copper coloured. Anyone seen this ? Don't they make copper like they used to ?97 R1100R

You can get a huge variation in colors in copper after it's been heated depending on contaminants, alloying, temperatures and time at temperature, etc.
For all those people who find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than to Google it for themselves.
Anyway, ride more and they'll likely even out.
Never seen anyone else worry about this. Congratulations on having absolutely nothing else wrong, I guess...Last edited by bwringer; 09-22-2015, 02:27 PM.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.
