    1100 cylindes

ok does any one know if the cylinder sleeves from a 1100E are the same as the sleeves from 1100G , I was offered a cylinder and one looks bad in pics he sent me , I have a set of 1100E cylinders with the #1 hole was trashed,

    #2
    AN interesting question for 1983:

diff part numbers so no doubt incompatible unless the number diff is just to denote a different coloured paint.

The bore on the 1000 is 70mm, the bore on the 1100 is 72mm. I would guess that the liners are about the same thickness, making the overall diameter of the 1100 cylinders just a bit wider.

The stroke is different, too. The 1000 is 64.8mm, the 1100 is 66mm. Not sure if the liners are any taller to accomodate that, though.

There is always the possibility of boring out the block to accept the 1100 liners, but then you would have to find pistons to match.

Remember that the 1100E was a 4-valve design, so the pistons would be different and would not swap into the 1000.

Do you need the inside measurement of the bore of the sleeve or the outside measurement of the total diameter of the sleeve?

If I'm measuring accurately with my cheapo calipers, the OD of the sleeves of an '82 1100GK seem to be about 78.3 mm. I'm pretty sure the G, GK, and GL should all be the same. Not sure about the E.

'82 1100GK. Probably same as an '82-'84 1100 G but you might ask for more opinions. I really want to hang on to it but thought it might help decide whether the other one you have a shot at might work.

The 16 valve 1100 and 8 valve barrels are the same.
                    1074 or 1075
Not sure why they have two different displacement numbers but they are the same.

I wasn't sure if the barrels were the same, but the 8- and 16-valve motors have the same bore and stroke: 72 x 66.

Actual displacement works out to 1074.877, so it just depends on whether you want to include the numbers after the decimal and round up.
