    Help. 1981 gs750l

As I wrote I have a 1981 gs 750l. My question is I'm starting the valves tomorrow morning but cannot find my manual. What deeper guages do I need to accomplish this. Please help. Google let me down

According to my manual all TSCC engines(16 valve) call for .09-.13 mm or.004-.005" cold. You could get your manual from bikecliffs web page, but the links don't seem to be working right now.

Everything went well . just a side question. Should the timing chain have any slack in it. How should I know if it's worn out

Since you had the valve cover off, yeah it well be a bit loose. Inside the valve cover is a there is a cam chain tensionor as well, though solid mounted. Once you reinstall the valve cover it presses down on the cam chain.
