Changing out head and base gaskets
So I need to change out the head gasket and I'm going to go ahead and do the base gasket as well. I'll do an overall inspection but is there anything else I should plan on doing while I am in there?
Thanks in advanceTags: None

Make sure the valve clearances are good and then perform a leak down test to judge condition of the valves and rings. Take action as appropriate if the results are not to your liking. Regardless of that be sure to change the valve stem seals and only use OEM gaskets. Aftermarket gasket kits are iffy at best and downright criminal at worst. No such worry with OEM gaskets.Ed
