GSX1100 / GS1150 EFE Rotor Rumble - or is it the Mains??!!

Got this new EFE and it has a low frequency rumble at idle. Sound disappears when revved up.

I took off the rotor cover and discovered that the rotor and starter clutch bolts have some play in them (cheeky buggers eh?).

Looks to me like a new rotor as it's unlikely to be the bolts that have worn.

    Anyone have experience of this?

remove the SC /rotor/ assembly and reassemble then bump start the bike.
if the sound is gone it's in the SC assembly somewhere...if not, i have had/seen/heard bad mains in the past on 1100/1150's.
not a common thing but it does happen.

I bet all the bolts are snapped and the dowel on the back of the rotor is the only thing holding the SC to the rotor.
Or the one bolt you pointed to is snapped and stressing the threads on the other 2 bolts.
Might be worth checking the clutch hub nut too, although the sound does appear to be coming from the SC.
Blowers suggestion was what I wanted to say too

OK so I just got the puller today. Took the rotor and starter clutch out and bump started the bike.

Could it be cam end float knocking? Does seem to be coming from topside and there are no tappets lose.

Otherwise its a big end / main bearing - isn't it?

          Oh pooh!!

No cam end float on 16 valve engines.

I am now replacing the crank in my 80 1100L engine. Both center main bearings were bad, howled so loud at 70 people that I was passing looked at me like the world was going to end. To be fair, the screaching took a long time to get that loud and could not be pinpointed.

My noise is a clunking - no screeching at all. I'm guessing that this signifies big or little ends rather than mains.
