            Sorry for misinterpreting. The link does take me to the right place but the flash video provided by Steve has been either moved or removed by the owner.

            Bottom line is: I still cannot find a pic of Steve's valve spring compressor made from PVC.

              So is it best to remove the head to replace the valve stem seals or can this be done without removing the head?

                There is not 'best' , you either chose to do it without removing the head or remove the head, if you're just wanting to replace the valve seals. If you want to have a look at everything else well then it's a pretty simple choice.

                  I just bought some cheap nylon rope to change the seals and springs . Run the piston down to bdc, put in a length of rope and run the piston up.
                  I've never done it on a bike but worked great on my hotrod V8 and a 4 stroke is a 4 stroke.

                      So either way it is done, the cams have to be removed right? If that's correct then one might as well pull the head and check other things at the same time.
                      Let me know if I am missing something here. For some reason I was forgetting the part about the cams needing removal. Duh!!!
