gear ratio gs650g
I would like to change gear ratio on my gs650g I have about 4000rpm in 55mph and I would like to get the rpm down at least 1000rpm when I drive on the highway can I change the final drive from gs1100gk 1983 I think that bike have 11/32 final gear and the 650 have 11/34.

Well, there's good news and bad news.
The bad news is that the change in ratio would only drop the RPM about 235 at 4000, not nearly what you would like.
The good news? The engine THRIVES on speeds well above 4000, so stop lugging it around.
By the way, how did you get 4000 at 55? My son's bike does 4000 closer to 50 or so.

Rear tire sidewall height can help some... I threw a shorter tire on my VTX1800 to help a bit on the acceleration. Going taller would help lower the ratio some. But that smaller 4 cylinder makes its usable power with more RPM. If you want a less busy engine look to trade in for a V-twin as Tkent said. All the GS I can think of even the twins make their power North of the 4k rpm range.Jedz Moto
