    Forward Chain Guide

I can not place the forward chain guide back into the cylinder head. The Clymer manual page 80 step 9 gives explicit instructions. No clue as to why I am unable to place it correctly.

Has anybody else encountered this issue? What should I try next?

I have not got a clymer manual to look but it's a fairly simple operation, make sure the cam chain is not bunched up on the sprocket. The noble on the tentioner (for a better term) points to the exhaust header then slide it down untill the two protruding top locators fit into the head it should then be flush with the top of the head.
You may be threading it down at the back of the guide that is around the crankshaft sprocket the first time I did it I fiddled a bit as I used a torch to look down the tunnel and there does not seem to be an obvious location.
