Non Starter after Topend rebuild GS850 GL

    Yep, new intake boots and new airbox boots. With all the necessary wrenches on the cart next to me, I can remove the seat, remove the tank, remove the airbox and have the carbs on the bench in about 5 minutes. Putting it all back together takes about 6 minutes, because I have to verify the adjustment on the throttle cable.

    EDIT: this claim for "five minutes" is only valid on the larger shafties. For this reason, the 850, 1000 and 1100 shafties are particularly easy to work on.

      Try using a ratchet strap around the carbs and slow pull them all into the boots.

        If you need to do this, you need new carb/cylinder head boots.

        Extreme measures are a lovely way to bend and break some very delicate parts.
