I don't find the 1000 all that buzzy at 80 mph but a bit lower engine speed would be nice if it was significant.
Why does one want to lower cruising rpm's? Mileage? Mine went down when geared lower. To get the desired results when twisting the throttle I had to turn it further. Engine longevity? My Triumph lives and loves to cruise all day at 5000 rpm(indicated 80,which =around 73)64,000 and counting. GS's are just as bullet-proof. I AM an old guy, and drive like one 80% of the time. Lowering rpm's does not always net positive results.
