    top end oiling problems???

    Hi, I'm working on my 83 750e 16v 2nd gen. Today I was adjusting my valves and did a quick compression check. While spinning the motor over I got a good look at my cams getting oiled. The intake cam was really getting oiled well, each lobe had a steady stream of oil pouring over it, the exhaust cam on the other hand barely looked like it was getting oiled at all, not on any lobe. I mean it was gettint a little oil, there was a sheen on the lobes but it was nothing compaired to how well the intake cam was getting oiled. I took the hard lines off between the cam caps and cleaned them real good and inspected for cracks, all is good, I cleaned the 4 banjo bolts, took the 4 head oil gally bolts off and blew air each way between oil gally hole and cam cap banjo bolt hole. put it all back together making sure I put the long banjo bolts on the intake side and its still doing the same thing, oiling like a champ on the intake but very lackluster on the exhaust. Is this normal? Thanks

        If you have an '83 750 E, then you should have the 3rd gen 750, only the '83 "T" models still had the 2nd gen 750 IIRC

          Thanks AMK, I read that whole article. very good! Thank you too gearhead, I do realize I have a 3rd gen motor and made a mistake calling it a 2nd gen. That being said I still think I have a oiling problem with the exhaust cam. Do people shim the oil pressure switch on these 3rd gen 750s/

            How do the cams look? Are they worn and scored? I assume the answer is no and that when the engine is running that there would be a good bit of oil coming out for both cams. The oil flow path may hit the intakes first, thus stealing the minimal oil flow when turning the engine over with just the starter.

              Cranking rpm is probably less than 100 rpm, when at idle around 1200 rpm much more oil pressure and flow would be there.

                Thanks Nessism, Thanks gearhead, I appricate you guys taking time to explain this to me. your right, the exhaust cam doesn't show any more ware than the intake and Iv'e been riding the heck out of it!! But while we're talking about it, did suzuki get the oiling problem fixed on these 3rd gen motors or should I do the shim trick?? Thanks for your advice
