    I just had the same ordeal with my bike. Used this handy calculator to help.
    Motorcycle speed and sprocket calculator with bike database for gearing, sprockets, tires and chains of over 1900 bikes. Request yours to be added as well.

    You pick your bike. You can change the tire, wheel size, and sprocket to see what effects it will have on the speed and rpm.

      I am running 19/48 530 chain on my GS1000. Runs great!
      1978 GS1085.
