    Trashed Piston?

    I won an ebay auction for some '82 gs850 jugs and pistons. One of the pistons has a chip in the skirt. I know if I have to ask, I probably shouldn't use it.
    What do you guys think? No cracks around the chip. I smoothed it out a little with a file. The engine must have sat a while, most of the rings are stuck on the pistons.

    This is for a 750 to 850 cylinder swap for my 78 gs750, daily commuter type driving style.

    We're gonna need more pixels... a lot more. I can't see what you're talking about. And maybe clean things up a little so we can see the metal.

    Unless it's just dirt and reflections, that wrist pin looks roached.

    In general, eeeehhhhhh... the chip probably won't make a bit of difference. Maybe. Possibly.

    Personally, I'd post in the "Parts Wanted" subforum and try to shake loose some more GS850 pistons.

    New standard size 850 pistons from Suzuki are about $54 each, which isn't horrible.

        It's at 5:00 in the top picture and 1:00 on the bottom one. It's just a little dip in the rim of the skirt now. I'll post some better pics tomorrow.

            Dont use it unless you measure it in that area with a micrometer because the metal arond the chip could be deformed

            Actually should measure all used pistons

              Get a piston from Steve, you wont regret it and job done !. Mine is running great by the way Steve .
