Best Rocker Arms for G4 Cams?

I'm wanting to run some (used) G-4 cams on an 1150 motor I'm putting together, and I will be using a top end oiling kit.


My Question is: should I use my used stock rocker arms, or use new stock arms, or use stock later model arms, or send my old ones off to be hardfaced?
I'm just wondering which option is the best for a long living, trouble free engine.

I would make sure your G-4 cams clear the valve guides and if they require stiffer springs first. Also how used are the cams? Need to be properly inspected. And stock rockers will last a long time depending on your valve spring pressures. If a slightly higher spring pressure is needed stockers will work as long as you keep an eye on them. Hard facing is expensive and may not be needed in your application. Inspection and proper maintenance since used with a top end oiler. You may be in good shape to go with stock. Later model arms in increase the ratio and are actually harder on the rocker pads as I remember. Not sure 100% though. Ray will know the best solution.

Im having new bronze guides installed and Im using new APE springs so I should be ok. I just heard that some cams require harder rocker pads or they'll eat them up.

The G4s have pretty mellow ramps, compared to bigger cams. I would choose my springs depending on the rev limit & type of riding/racing being done with it. I have used old Kibblewhite, up to .400 lift Springs, out of a drag engine, on street bike cams without issue. Those Springs were softer than new so easier on the rocker arms, but still plenty to handle the G4s without issue or valve float. I prefer the Kibblewhite springs in my stuff, I've never had an issue with them. They seem to hold pressure longer than others I've used.

Again Ray, I appreciate your input and experience. I will inspect my rocker arm pads and if they look good I will reuse them. I'm using APE springs... the performance ones, not the "Pros".
