I definitely need to replace the block and pistons, what's a good size bore to go with if I'm running this thing on the street? Is there a place that I could get a kit with pistons and a bored out block?

Good big bore for running on the street?
So my 1983 gs1100E with the stock welded crank and a welded clutch basket with a heavy backing plate, has some piston and cylinder scoring from the previous owner. She's burning oil.

1170 is highest standard over bore that you can get with your crank and block. Probably as far as you want to go to avoid over heating as well. With 1150 crank and block you could go 1229cc. I'm also using straight cut gears and billet basket. Ray has been very helpful in giving me advice on going the 1229cc rout with an 89 GSX-r750 head and cams.
