Water in crank case

OK, this is a weird one. About 3 years ago, I purchased a used engine to swap for my current engine which had fuel in the crank case - bad petcock and float. It has been sitting in the garage and I finally obtained a "round-to-it" and have been working to refresh this replacement engine. This evening I pulled the oil drain plug and about 2 oz of oil drained that seemed to be mixed with a small amount of water. I have no idea where this came from.

I am worried about damage to the crank or bearings. What can I do to minimize or check for damage?

Could be anything from condensation to rain.
Every time you start from cold I'd say that amount of water is dropped into the sump so it's kinda normal to have some in there.
The dewpoint of exhaust gas is 170F so all the blowby gas is wetting everything on it's way to the breather.
When a motor is laid up in an unheated space if you get a sudden temperature rise with humidity and the motor is not sealed, the new air will condense inside the motor as well as out.
I wouldn't worry too much. It takes serious neglect to do real harm and the outside of the motor would probably be in bad shape as well.
Dropping the sump pan is probably the easiest way to check further.
