What's in the OEM gasket set?
The parts stores are listing a gasket set for my '82 1100g. I didn't realized these are still available. Does anyone know what comes in them? The P/N for my bike is 11402-49870.

Thanks, that was what I figured. Where they had it on the fische threw me off a little.
Who do you call and ask, the parts store or Suzuki? Most parts stores I've dealt with don't have such keen knowledge about parts for these old bikes.

I don't know who you could call and ask that would know anything. Aftermarket shops will try to sell you aftermarket crap, and the OEM shops don't have these kits in stock -- they have to order them from Suzuki.
Never fear, you have the GS forum on your side, and several of us have seen and used aftermarket and OEM sets. In a nutshell, there's absolutely no comparison. If an OEM set is available, grab it.
The OEM gasket sets are very high quality and a screaming bargain compared to the shoddy incomplete crap you get in the Vesrah and Athena sets. You get ALL the o-rings and ALL the gaskets (including exhaust, several drain plug seals, etc.) you'll need inside and out. If you were doing a complete engine rebuild, all you'd need to add are the various shaft seals. In other words, you'd spend a lot more to buy the stuff that's missing from an aftermarket gasket set than you would to just buy the very complete OEM set. Plus, the aftermarket gaskets are just plain junk.
The imitation sets only give you the case and top end gaskets, made out of pressed cheeto dust and sweepings from the rubber dog turd factory.
Why yes, yes I am a little salty about Vesrah's evil junk. Is a slight bit of dissatisfaction showing?

Thanks BW. I'm not looking to go to aftermarket seals, I just wasn't sure if I should buy the few OEM seals I need, or get the full kit. Now I know it has everything I can do a little math and see what makes more sense.

Unopened it should have everything EXCEPT the oring that goes between the case halves in the oil galley. Dont ask me why they dont include that but its never there. I always preempt any base gasket leaks with a thin smear of Suzuki 1207B on each side of it. Let it cure overnight and you use a finger nail to flick off anythng that squishes out and is visible. Use the 1207B for sealing the cases as well.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I came across this OEM gasket set on Ebay with a part number I couldn't find elsewhere (11401-45815 or 11400-45810). I was looking for a base and head gasket, but the base gasket looks like its folded over or ripped in half. For the price, I was willing to take a gamble but not for something that's apparently damaged.Jordan

It is 'engine only', correct? As in, there are no seals for the brake calipers or master cylinders?
