I have a 1980 gsx1100et but the engine number is gs110x-125655 does anybody know what model this engine is from I was told it is a katana engine is this correct and what year is it from, thanks for any help

I have been trying to make sense of these. I don't follow how these help identify what year engine you have. Did engines for MY 81 and later bikes not have serial numbers at all?
