    Cylinder Stud Install

I have the engine in my 1978 gs750 apart to put in 850 jugs/Pistons. Two of the cylinder studs were severely rusted and I am replacing them. The new (NOS Suzuki) studs have thread locker compound on them-- do I trust the old goo that's on there, or clean it off and install with new loctite? Manual calls for 5-8 ft-lbs torque for those, is that correct?
    Regards,
    Jason

when I fitted some new studs to my 550 I used a threebond threadlock red high temp and high strength .cant remember which one it would be on there website . you don't have to tighten studs up that tight so that sounds about right. my nos studs came with no sealant on them.
