    Which might explain why the old style petcocks with the double diaphragm had a check valve on the vacuum inlet [outlet, actually] that only leaked down slowly.

    I've never been able to get the new! improved! taps to work to my satisfaction, and just finished prepping another old one to go on a buddies 450 who can't wait to jettison his.


    Maybe they thought a fuel tap should make a tapping sound…...

      Noisy petcock... If you disconnect vacuum hose from this 1980 petcock ,then plug hose with finger, does noise vanish?
