    '81 850GL Vacuum Issues

So since I'm very keen on keeping things 1000% stock when it comes to fuel/intake I've never really had the chance to mess around with aftermarket pod filters and such. I got a freebie 850L and the thing runs great when it's not on fire for some stupid reason and whoever had it before me BUTCHERED what was deemed as rigged (Yes. Hit that low) and had things plugged into things that aren't even part of the same circuit (Took their time to rewire the horn into the fuel float signal wire). So I'm trying to find a good way to figure out a new routing for the vacuum lines that are supposed to go into the air box.(Main one going into head, ones off carbs, ones to case, etc.) I don't really wanna spend $125 for part that should only be $30 at most so trying to keep things on a budget. Any suggestions?

Only real vacuum hose is one from #2 carb up to petcock. The airbox left factory with a drain hose gizmo on bottom and a pcv hose from camcover on top. Take a look at this link

As the link in Tom's post shows, there are four hoses connected to the carbs. The fuel hose goes to a T in between carbs 2&3. There are also Ts between carbs 1&2 and 3&4. Those are the vent hoses. The fourth hose is the vacuum line that goes to the petcock to turn it ON. The airbox might have two hoses, some only had one. There is a large one that goes from the top of the airbox to the crankcase breather on top of the valve cover. There <might> be a drain line from the left side of the airbox, not all boxes had them.

Looking at the list of bikes in your signature, I see an impressive diversity, but also a couple of inconsistencies. It is rather impossible to have an '81 GS850GN. The N was Suzuki's code for the '79 model year. If it truly is an '81, it would be a GS850GX. Also, it is rather impossible to have an '89 GL1500 Interstate. Honda did not introduce the Interstate model until the '91 model year, and the standard model was renamed Aspencade. The GL1500/6 was introduced in '88. The SE version (more farkles) was introduced in '89, the Interstate (fewer farkles) was introduced in '91. The Interstate was dropped in '96, the Aspencade and SE continued through 2000.
