82 gs1100 shifter, need longer for my big foot?

    81gs750frame, 82 gs1100 [1166] engine.
Need a shifter that's an inch or so longer so I can shift with work boots on.
It's OK with tennis shoes but with boots it's a little hard to get my foot in the right place?
I've looked at eBay, can't find anything.
    I'm sure something else fits.
I also bet I ant the first man to have this problem.
Mine measures 4-1/2 from shaft to toe, 5-1/2 - 6in would be great, I can cut and weld but I want it to
    Look factory Clean!
    Any ideas?
    Anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks
PS it's walnut falling out of tree and laying on road time!!!
Went for a ride in the country and around a curve I came and their they lay,
A nice obstacle coarse to test my quick reflexes, all is well but remember it's that time of year,
Leaves falling also an reflex check, if u ant thinking!!!
Be safe out their, and ride another Day!
We've got another 60 days or so to ride here in TN and then it's far and few in between, till about March first.
A buddie and I have vowed to ride at least once a month to keep the gas and carbs clean,
We'll c how that works Out?
    Thanks!

No idea on a longer shifter, but you can adjust it up a bit to give more clearance for your boot. It definitely is fall, with all the obstacles that entails. Around here (rural Alberta) it is harvest time so you need to watch out for farm equipment on the roads and the piles of mud/cow dung/straw littering the roads every time you go over a hill or around a corner. It certainly can add some excitement to a ride.

Another option is to place another arm that goes up and back, to turn it into a heel-toe shifter.

I have one on my bike, but it has floorboards which sort of require such nonsense. I also have a heel-toe shifter on my Wing, no floorboards there.

Pictures available of either one, if you are interested.

Don't really want hel,toe style. Guess I'll go to my local bike junk yard and get something, might still have to extend my own. Thanks

I pulled a really long shifter off my V-strom and put the stock shifter back on. It's probably what you are describing and you can have it if you'd like. I'm away from the house right now but I'll measure it for you later on and send a picture to see if you want it.

Back home now. This is the shifter I have. It says EMGO on it and looks like a dirt bike foldable one. It's just under an inch longer than the GS 850 shifter next to it. I removed it from the Vee because I had to take my size 8.5 shoe completely off of the foot rest to shift up or down. Stock shifter on the Vee is very different anyway and works much better. PM me if you want it I'll drop it in the mail for you.

Thanks, but I'll keep my chrome one for Now!
It's only when I have work boots on that I have trouble, isn't so much the length but work boots are thicker?
