1981 GS650 Broken Rear Cam Chain Guide Removed
I have finally completed the splitting of the cases of the 1981 GS650L to remove the broken rear cam chain guide. Now the question is how much more work do I want to do now to clean up and improve the lifespan of the engine before I start putting everything back together?

27,000 miles +/-. It was running well before the cam chain guide broke and the timing jumped.Blog of my motorcycle projects - http://twowheeljunkie.wordpress.com/

I went back thru your posts... So during a sudden stop, apparently rear camchain guide broke somehow- and loose chain jumped... Odd thing to happen. I wonder if tensioner plunger had been sorta frozen in place for a while and the sudden stop allowed it to charge forward into guide. Anyways, let me know if you can't find a replacement guide, cuz I remember getting one in a parts lot a few years back.1981 gs650L

The tensioner plunger appears to be moving freely, but is something I plan to disassemble and rebuild prior to reinstalling.
Thanks,
