    Curious Foam

I did my Chain and sprockets and when I took off the sprocket cover it was just laden with grease inside along with the entire area of the engine where the front sprocket is. I mean it was nasty.

So I set upon cleaning out all the years worth of gook and discovered that the inside of the sprocket cover had blown foam inside! Did it come from the factory like that? I am just curious. I have never seen that before.

1983 Gs1100ESD, rebuild finished! Body paintwork happening winter 2017:D

I would rather trust my bike to a technician that reads the service manual than some backyardigan that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix things.

Knock whatever chunks of lube off that you can and reinstall cover.

Yea that is what I did .. I also sprayed it with some simple green and whipped off as much slop as I could and reinstalled. I was just wondering if it were a factory thing or something a previous owner had done.
