Final Drive Gurus
I blew the wheel spline in my wife's '82 GS850GZ, and picked one up from a '90 VS1400 Intruder. The have different part #s, the Intruder being 64680-24A00, and the one for her bike is 64680-45112 or 64680-45113. What is the difference? They look the same, but for some reason when the wheel is tightened, (just hand tight with a crescent, NOT standing on a breaker bar or anything silly), the wheel is REALLY hard to turn, even without the caliper mounted. Yes, all the bearings and spacers are there and in the right sequence. I notice on the Intruder, the drive is on the right side of the bike as opposed the the left for the GSs. Makes a differnce? Has anybody else had any experience with the Intruder splines?Kevin

I understand (mistly from seeing comments here from knowlogable folks) that that same hub (calle joint assembly in mocrofische) is used on most all zuki shaft drive bikes in 80 and 90s and even upto current models.
Look at the "fitment data" on Partzilla
THe list is way too long to want to copy to this posting. (when I was looking I coulnt remeber what you said you got it from).http://webpages.charter.net/ddvrnr/GS850_1100_Emblems.jpg

I do see a propblem after looking them up in Partzilla. There must be a slight difference, as the part # for the one I got just seems to just fit the 1400 and 1500 Intuders, whereas the GS # numbers fit everything else, inlcuding the newer Boulevards.Kevin

Found out the difference, the big bore Intruders have longer splines, therefore making the inside of the unit thicker than most. Ooops. Anybody need a wheel spline for a 1400/1500 Intruder?Last edited by mcycle-nut; 02-02-2019, 03:23 PM.Kevin
